Application Phases

After submitting the application, students will go through two key phases in the selection process, students can refer to the below for more details

Phase One: International Scholarship English Competition (ISEC)

International Scholarship English Competition (ISEC)

Students will sit for the ISEC, an English test that assesses their language proficiency. Based on their performance, they will be awarded a grade (Gold, Silver, Bronze, or Participation). Students who achieve Gold may be invited to a prize presentation ceremony.

The test covers two core components: Use of English and Listening, providing a comprehensive evaluation of students' overall language proficiency.

Use of English: Focuses on grammar structure and vocabulary usage, assessing students' ability to flexibly apply language skills in real-world contexts.

​

 

Listening Comprehension: Tests students' overall listening ability, evaluating their capacity to receive and understand information in both daily conversations and academic settings.

​

 

Comprehensive Evaluation: The test covers multiple language skills, including listening, speaking, and reading, with an emphasis on students' understanding of deeper linguistic meanings. It serves as a key indicator of overall English proficiency.

Test platform: Online

Applicable age: 7-16 years old

Test Results

Students who complete the test will receive a participation certificate based on their performance and a detailed analysis report, helping them identify their language strengths and areas for improvement to guide future learning plans.

Prize Ceremony

Prize Ceremony

Students will be categorised into Gold, Silver, Bronze, or Participation tiers based on their performance in the test. Those who achieve the Gold award will be invited to an award ceremony in recognition of their outstanding results.

 

All participants will also receive an e-certificate upon completing the test.

The following is the categorisation of awards:

  • Gold for top 8%

  • Silver for next 12%

  • Bronze for next 20%

  • Participation for the next 60%

Internal School Assessment

Students who qualify from Phase 1 will be shortlisted for further assessments by individual schools. These may include interviews, additional tests, or portfolio reviews depending on each school’s requirements.
